FUGATE, James Maxwell "Dick" Age 80 of West Carrollton, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Otterbein Retirement Community, Lebanon under the care of Otterbein Hospice and surrounded by family. Dick was born November 11, 1934 to the late Olney and Mae (Smith) Fugate in Artville, KY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline Hall, Burdena Barlond, Juanita "Toonie" Howell, Lillian "Gerry" McMenamy and Dora Jenkins. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rachel (Bryant) Fugate, his two daughters, Patti Dunlap and Anne (Steven) Siple and son, Walter Lee Fugate; granddaughter, Heather (Nick) O'Donnell; grandsons, Jamie (Ashley Wilson) Dunlap and Thomas, Matthew and Nathaniel Siple; great grandchildren, Alex, Drew, Owen and Nova as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was a 1953 graduate of Germantown High School and completed his education with General Motors Institute (Kettering University). He retired from Delco Products (a Division of GM) after 38 years of service. He also served honorably for the US Air Force from 1954 to 1958. Dick was involved in the Society of Packaging and Handling Engineers, Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Society, Miami Valley Traffic Club, Junior Achievement and Delta Tau Delta social fraternity. He served as an alumni advisor to the Theta Rho Chapter of Delta Tau Delta at University of Dayton for 11 years, was member of the West Carrollton Board of Zoning Appeals and the School Board serving Vice President 3 years and as President for 2. Dick enjoyed a great game of pinochle and researching family genealogy. His wit, courage and love will be greatly missed. Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, October 30, 2015 at Gebhart-Schmidt- Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin 10:00 AM Saturday, October 31 also at the funeral home. Woodside Cemetery, Middletown will serve as Dick's final resting place with military honors preformed by American Legion Post 165. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #165 at 35 N. Main St., Miamisburg, OH 45342.
