GREGGERSON, Herbert Charles "Herbie" Age 94 of Miamisburg passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his residence under the care of Vitas Hospice. He was born February 20, 1920 in Boston, IN to the late Charles and Lyda (Shaffer) Greggerson. In addition to his parents, Herbie was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Drake, Harriet Greggerson and Harold Greggerson; son-in-law Darrell Carrico; daughter-in-law, Kathy Greggerson and grandson Joshua Greggerson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary F. (Schmidt) Greggerson; children, Nicholas (Peggie) Greggerson of West Carrollton, Timothy (Nancy) Greggerson of Miamisburg, Sheila Carrico of West Carrollton, Pamela (Brian) Clayton of Kettering, Valerie (Chris) Dopel of Miamisburg, Chris J. (Michelle) Greggerson of Miamisburg and Patrick (Anne) Greggerson of Miamisburg; numerous grandchildren and great grandchikdren, special friends and extended family members, Robin and Dale Wampler and his devoted caregivers, Christina, Melinda and Anthony. Herbie was a 1938 graduate of West Carrollton High School and completed formal HVAC training. He had honorably served the U.S. Armed Forces Army and Air Force divisions as a soldier and musician. Herbie's career included employment with Davis Heating, Sealtest, Frigidaire and Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a civil engineer heading their HVAC maintenance program. Herbie was extremely active in his community and maintained memberships with the American Legion, Eagles, VFW, Moose, Wolf Creek Rod and Gun Club, St. Jacob Lutheran Church, Masonic Minerva Lodge #98, Scottish Rite and the Antioch Shrine (director of the Troubadours for 20 years, Brass Band and Potes Little Symphony). Herbie was a gifted musician of woodwind instruments and graciously shared his talents by participating in the Kettering Civic Band, Letter Carriers Band, Sauerkraut Band, Wind Jammers Unlimited, Fairborn Civic Band, Star City Band, the United States Air Force Band and Musicians Union as well as several area dance bands. Herbie liked to keep busy and even after retirement continued to work with his son Chris as an HVAC technician until the age of 86. Family will receive friends and loved ones from 5:00-9:00-PM Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Gebhart- Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin 10:00 AM Thursday, January 29, 2015 at St. Jacob Lutheran Church, Miamisburg and officiated by Pastor Michael Hout. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, West Carrollton with military honors.
