VASTBINDER, Walter E. Age 88 of Fairborn, passed away Saturday July 12, 2008 in Trinity Retirement Community. He was born May 22, 1920 in Franklin, Ohio, the son of the late Archie C. and Grace L. (White) Vastbinder. Walter was a Nazarene pastor for 20 years and then served as school psychologist for the Xenia and Fairborn Public Schools. He also taught in several area colleges and universities and served on the Fairborn Board of Education. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Wilbur, Ernest; and a sister, Jeanette. He is survived by three children, Carol Raisch and husband Don of Forest City, NC, Joyce Wanty and husband Doug of Fairborn, Marvin and wife Beth of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Darrel, Dana, Devon, Noc, Kimberly, amie, and Lily Raisch, Derrek and Carla Wanty, Danica and Josh Allen, Micah, Jana, and Joel Vastbinder; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jayden, Eden Allen and Noelia Wanty; a brother, Carl of Debary, FL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 15, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Belton- Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 16, 2008 at 10:30 A.M., Rev. Vernon Hurles officiating. Interment will follow in the Byron Cemetery.
