CHRISTMAN, Betty Jane (Furnas) Age 94 of West Carrollton, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 after an extended illness. She was born on May 11, 1922 in Dayton, the daughter of the late Harold & Charlotte (Schlereth) Furnas. During World War II, Betty served as a volunteer for the Red Cross at the Dayton VA Center; she worked in a variety of jobs during her lifetime. Betty loved meeting new people and enjoyed many dogs as special pets. She and her husband enjoyed traveling for years together in retirement. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert L. Christman in 2008, her brother Harold Eugene (Gene) Furnas and by a grandson Christopher DeNise. She is survived by her son Tim Christman and wife Susan, special son Bill Johns, granddaughters Sarah Christman & Emily Reynolds, grandson Matt DeNise, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, niece Robin (Dale) Wampler, nephew Jimmy (Vicki) Furnas as well as several great nieces & nephews and numerous friends. A private graveside service will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery with Father Ron Combs officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Miami Valley in her memory.
