HESSELL, Joseph "Joe" age 91 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at his residence. Joe was born on May 25, 1923 in Covington, Kentucky, son of the late Joseph and Erdine Hessell, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Charma Kay Hessell; daughter, Debbie Bonin of Charlton, MA; son, Jeff (Mary) Hessell of Beavercreek, OH; step children, Chanda Dicke of Charleston, SC, Bob (Katy) Shroder of Warren, OH, Ron (Sue) Shroder of West Chester, OH & Steve (Kim) Shroder of Bellbrook, OH; 15 grandchildren; and Kay's foster daughter Pamela Fry and her 2 children. Joe was a graduate of West Carrollton High School and attended Miami University. During World War II, he proudly joined the U.S. Army and served as a Paratrooper in the European Theater where he received a Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge, and other medals of valor for his service. Joe was employed by N.C.R. for over 46 years and retired as General Manager of Old River Park.
