SMITH, Walter Eugene Sr. age 79, of West Carrollton, passed away on Friday, 
November 23, 2007 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. He will now be at peace in 
heaven with his wife of 60 years: Marybeth (Pape) Smith. He was also preceded 
in death by his parents: Walter Zachariah & Marjorie Ann (Sullivan) Smith; brothers: 
Bryan C. & Lowell E. Smith; and sister: Lucy Smith. Walter is survived by his sons: 
Walter E. II and wife Anne Smith of Miamisburg, Daniel A. Smith I of Volant, PA; 
daughters: Kathleen G. Newton of Miami Twp., Melanie and husband Tom Phipps 
of Bellbrook; grandchildren: Christy and husband Scott Purdin, Zack and wife 
Debbie Smith, Melissa Johnson, Daniel Smith II, Joshua Smith, Randy and wife 
Lauren Smith, Michael Guenther, Sean Phipps, Drew Phipps; 11 great 
grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and numerous other family members 
and friends. Walter is also survived by his loving "family" of 5 years at Walnut Creek 
Nursing Center. Walter's family would like express their deepest gratitude for the 
loving and compassionate care he received there. Walter was a United States 
Army Veteran, he retired from Moraine Materials with over 37 years of service, 
and loved his Ohio State Buckeyes! The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 
P.m. on Friday, November 30th at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering
 Blvd., Kettering, Ohio. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, December 
1st at Newcomer Funeral Home. Interment at Heritage Hills Memorial Gardens, 
Springboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Walnut Creek
