Eugene Everett Bowie Jr., 84, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at his home. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Friday at Travis Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Dean officiating. Gene was born Oct. 23, 1931, to Eugene Bowie Sr. and Louise Bowie of Dayton, Ohio. He graduated in 1949 from West Carrollton High School, then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business from Miami University in Ohio. On Jan. 1, 1962, he purchased a tire company that became the Bowie Tire Company which is still operated by his daughter- in-law, Margie. He eventually moved to Fort Worth and in 1999 bought his own framing shop, Bowie on Bowie. Gene spent many years as a Marshall at the Master Card Colonial Golf Tournament where he met a lot of famous golfers. He was also an endowed member of the Moslah Shrine Clown Unit which he served as President in the year 2000 and Chaplain in 2008. Gene was also a member of the Arlington Heights Masonic Lodge #1184. Gene was a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church where he loved to sing and travel with the Praise singers Choir. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Mark Bowie. Survivors: Loving wife of 20 years, Linda Bowie; daughter-in-law, Margie Bowie; daughter, Lynn Bowie; son, Tim (Tina) Bowie; stepdaughter, Cindy (Keith) Payne; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Sue Brown.
