SMITH, Dessie Opal Age 83 of Kettering, Ohio passed away early Tuesday morning on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. Dessie was born July 15, 1932 in Poplar Springs, TN to the late Joseph and Sally Langford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe and Carl, and her sister, Lois. She is survived by her loving husband, Elmer of 64 years, and her children, Lori (John) Frueauf, Cheryl (Tom) Marks, Terrie (Ray) Overholser, and Susan (Dave) Coder; her 10 grandchildren, Jeremiah (Anastasia) Frueaf, Josh (Rachel) Frueauf, Jake (Ali) Frueauf, Joe Frueauf, Heather (Tyler) Bonin, Travis (Kyla) Marks, Rachael (Nick) Sawuk, Matthew (Stephanie) Coder, Nathan and Jonathan Coder; 15 great grandchildren, Walter, Maria, Juliette Frueauf, Kaiden, Maggie, Tanner, Jordan, Asher Freauf, Emery Frueauf, Spencer, Lorelei, Declan, Piper Marks, Noah and Titus Sawuk. Dessie worked for Dorothy Lane American Baptist Church for several years. She then worked for Kettering Police Dept. until she retired. Her heart was always centered around family, nurturing them with the love of Christ. She was loved and cherished by her family and friends. Dessie will be deeply missed. Services will be held on Friday, April 15 at 12:00 p.m. at Dorothy Lane American Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
