ADKINS, Richard E. "Huddy" Richard E. "Huddy" Adkins, 78, of West Carrollton, OH died Saturday morning Jan. 21, 2012, at Lake Placid Health Care Center, Lake Placid, FL, which had been his Winter home for the last 13 years. Born Feb. 24, 1933 in Dayton, OH, to Carl and Eleanor (Hudson) Adkins. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Adkins was a retired service technician/lineman with Ohio Bell with 41 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 165 and served on with the Honor Guard for many years. He also was a member of The VFW Post 3438 Mens Auxiliary in West Carrollton, OH and Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He attended the Community Church of God in Lake Placid, FL and the First Baptist Church in West Carrollton, OH. Richard enjoyed fishing, playing euchre, Notre Dame football, listening to Frank Sinatra and playing ball with his dog Franki. Mr. Adkins is survived by his wife of 22 years, Betty; sons Terry ( Kim), Jim (Chris) and Joe; daughters Susan (Joe) and Julie and stepson Robert Mathis (Crystal); 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers , Bob( Shirley) and Jack (Barb). In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by brother Don. A service to celebrate Richards' life will be at 3PM Sunday Jan. 29, 2012 at the Community Church of God in Lake Placid, FL with Pastor Joe DeHart celebrating.
