Bertha “Jan” Hoerner Worley, 67, of the Culberson community, Murphy, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at John Keever Solace Center in Asheville. She was a native of Montgomery County, Ohio, and a Christian. She worked at Emerson Electric and Wal-Mart, loved re-modeling homes and was a “Jill of all trades.” She was the daughter of the late Herbert William and Pauline Dorcus Martin Hoerner. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arley Addis Worley, and a daughter, Donna Rae-Lynne Phillips. Surviving are a son, William Michael Robert Worley of Murphy; three daughters, Gina Paulina Elaine DeVitt and Janette Arleyce Worley, both of Chatsworth, Ga., and Patricia G. Carr of Asheville; one brother, Morris Dinkler and wife Mary of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Donna Swanson and husband Frank of Homosassa, Fla., and Barbara Richardson of Valley Tree, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. A graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at the Worley Family Cemetery, 2721 Shady Grove Road, Murphy. The Rev. Harold Stiles will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jann Worley, Michael Worley, Shawn Force, Bobby Banken, Riah Worley and Adam Joseph DeVitt. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605; St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to a favorite charity.
