CARTHAGE, Mo. - 
David L. Barnes, 64, of Carthage, died at 11:32 a.m., Wednesday, 
March 18, 2009, at his residence in Carthage, MO. He was born on 
June 9, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio.  David was the son of Jack Edward 
Barnes and Faye “Chapman” Barnes. He was a veteran of the U.S. 
Army and served during the Vietnam War.  David is survived by his 
spouse Jeanie Baum, one son Ron Barnes, one step-son Greg 
Phillips, one daughter Candy Barnes, two brothers; Gary Barnes and 
Jeff Barnes, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is 
preceded in death by his parents.  A memorial service will be held from 
12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the famiy’s home, 1474 E. 
Chestnut in Carthage.  Contributions may be made to the American 
Diabetes Association in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.  Arrangements 
are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage, Mo.
