Bruce Alan Hudgens d. 7/23/04 Beloved son of Claude and Virginia Hudgens of Dayton, OH and dear brother of Jeffrey Hudgens and Claudia Watson; also survived by niece, Christiana Watson, and nephews, Sean Hudgens and Graham Watson. Born in Long Beach, CA and raised in West Carrollton, Ohio, he graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a B.S. in chemistry in 1967. During his military service he qualified as an Expert Marksman and served in Korea as a medic with the US Army 43rd Surgical Hospital (MASH). He returned to Miami U., received an M.S. degree, and then attended the University of South Carolina from which he received a Ph.D. in physical chemistry in 1975. After conducting post-doctoral research at the Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Toledo, and University of Missouri, he was employed in 1979 by the USG Corp. and worked at its central research facility for 25 years. He also served on the governing board of the American Association for Applied Spectroscopy--Chicago Section. at home he was an avid amateur observational and computational astronomer, personal computer expert, and cat enthusiast. Friends may call on the family during the visitation from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, 28 July, at BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 West Park Avenue, Libertyville, IL.
