KOKENGE, Thomas H. Age 71 went to be with the Lord, Saturday June 10, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. Tom was born December 16, 1945 to the late Bernard and Grace (Lowman) Kokenge. A life long resident of West Carrollton Tom dedicated his life to loving his Lord Jesus Christ, by serving others. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sheri (Harris) Kokenge, 2 daughters; Christine and husband Larry Sexton, Julia and husband Matt Parks, brother; Dr. Bernard and wife Joy Kokenge, sister; Diane and husband Don Ullery, 4 grandchildren; Alexandria, Mallory, Morgan and Madison, 2 great-grandchildren; Emmett and Hadley, and a host of extended family and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; Bernard and Grace Kokenge and granddaughter Ashley Lynn Matheson. Tom was a graduate of the West Carrollton Class of 1963. He received his Bachelors Degree from University of Dayton in 1968 and Masters Degree from Wright State University in 1978. Tom retired from the Kettering School District with 33 years of service, West Carrollton School District with 10 years of service and Alter High School with 3 years. During those 46 years of service he was a Coach, Physical Education Teacher and Guidance Councilor. He was involved with Kettering Youth Services, Fellowship of Christian Students, Pirate Mentoring Program and reestablishing the Baccalaureate Service for graduation at West Carrollton High School. Tom was a devoted Christian and family man. He was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of West Carrollton and was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for both adult and youth students. Visitation will be Friday June 16, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. p.m. at First Baptist Church of West Carrollton, 705 South Elm St., West Carrollton, OH 45449. A CELEBRATION of Tom's life will be Saturday June 17, 2017 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of West Carrollton. Pastor Mark Scroggins and Pastor Scott Wells will be officiating the services. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, West Carrollton. The Kokenge family would like to offer a special Thank You to Hospice of Dayton for the kind and compassionate care they gave to Tom.
