Barton was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m. at Miami Valley Hospital, according to the coroner’s office. The accident happened sometime around 3:06 p.m. A preliminary investigation suggests that Barton was driving his 2007 Harley- Davidson west on Hemple Road, east of Ohio 4, which is Germantown Pike, according to Moraine Det. Paul Guess. Barton was behind two other riders. “He lost control and went over the handle bars” and hit the pavement, Guess said of Barton, who was not wearing a helmet. Paramedics took Barton to Miami Valley Hospital. Crash investigators have not determined why Barton lost control and are checking if alcohol was a factor.
