GESSNER, Gregory Edward age 61, of Beavercreek, OH passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Veterans Administration Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Dayton, OH on August 5, 1947, to Robert Gessner (who preceded him in death) and Mary Lou (Thimmes) Conroy. Gregory was a loving husband to his wife of 34 years, Theresa (Heindl), who survives. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce and her husband, Mitchell Hansen; brother, Robert L. Gessner and his wife, Margaret; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and Pat Cahill, Jack and Michelle Heindl and Marilyn Heindl ; son, Michael and grandson, Tyler; step-father, William Conroy; step-sisters, Connie and Lori; step-brother, Billy; aunts, Janet and Ruthann; uncle, Ralph and his wife, Inky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. His two dear pets, Emily and Lydia will also miss their dad. Greg was a graduate of West Carrollton High School. After 2 years in the Army, serving his country in Vietnam, he began work in the graphics art field, becoming a successful entrepreneur through the opening of Pro-Stat, Inc. Upon retirement, he began a pursuit of his beloved hobbies of collecting firearms and playing cards. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and VFW. Greg was a special person to so many, who will fondly remember how he brightened their lives. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road from 2-5 P.M. on Sunday, May 31, 2009. Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. on Monday, June 1, 2009, at the funeral home with Reverend Kenny Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Dayton National Cemetery.
