McELWEE, Donald L. "Don" Age 63, of West Carrollton, OH passed away Tuesday April 8, 2014 at home after a short illness. He was born on June 8, 1950 in Dayton, OH to his late parents, Ledford McElwee and Pauline Halsey. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patty McElwee; son, Gregg McElwee of Ithaca, NY; daughters, Liz (Christian) Janss of Los Angeles, CA and Joanie (Matt) Franklin of Centerville, OH; grandchildren, Luke and Morgan Franklin, Lila, Ollie, and Calvin Janss; sisters, Bev Newman and Patty (Mike) Kerns; and many nieces and nephews. Don was a graduate of The Ohio State University and University of Pennsylvania Law School. He was employed with the State of Ohio for 34 years. A life-long resident of West Carrollton, Don was a past member of West Carrollton City Council and served as well on the W.C. Planning Board and Zoning Board. Don was a great fan of UD Flyers Basketball and enjoyed attending the games both at home and on the road. An avid gardener, he was known for his spectacular roses. Don enjoyed playing Ping Pong, Croquet, Corn hole and board games and was a movie and music enthusiast. Visitation is Sunday April 13, 2014 from 2pm to 4pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel), Kettering, OH. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
