SIMPSON, Charles Wendell "Charlie" age 59 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born December 18, 1949 in Hindman, KY. Mr. Simpson was retired from the City of Dayton with 32 years of service, honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #2800, Dayton Lodge #0147 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and the Antioch Shrine. Preceded in death by his brother J.D. Newland. Survivors include his wife of 22 years Maria A. (Castillo) Simpson, 2 daughters Tina and Jake Hoskins of Huber Heights, Christine and Roy Ratliff of WA, his mother Marie Newland and husband Sam of W. Carrollton, 3 grandchildren Christopher Hoskins, Jenna Hoskins, Dylan Tackett, his sister Wanda Hilton and husband Wayne of Miamisburg, a niece Jamie Allen and husband Chris of W. Carrollton, great nephew Sammy Allen, 2 aunts Catherine South of Franklin, Margaret Farler and husband Sam of Miamisburg, an uncle Bobby Nickles and wife Goldie of KY, as well as other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the SWART FUNERAL HOME, W. Carrollton. Rev. Henry Watts officiating. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in his memory.
