SCHMALENBERGER, Nicholas Rudolph A service celebrating the life of Nicholas Rudolph Schmalenberger, age 62, of Newark will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Richard L. Clark officiating. Nick passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 15, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Roscoe Rudolph and Mildred (Walker) Schmalenberger. Nick graduated from West Carrollton High School. He retired from Sherwin-Williams Paint Company as a manager and was currently working at Tencate in Hebron. Nick enjoyed music, dancing, basketball, Harleys, Corvettes and the Cincinnati Bengals. He is survived by his four children, Heidi (Adam) Slone, Mari (Jason) Howard both of Dayton, Tifanie (Michael) Haun and Nick Schmalenberger both of GA; six grandchildren; eight siblings, Judith Roberts of AL, Larry (Carol) Schmalenberger of IL, Susan (Mike) Smith of KY, Nancy (Ken) Baker of Newark, Patrick (Marcia) Schmalenberger of IL, Michael Schmalenberger, Kevin Schmalenberger and David Schmalenberger both of AL; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Schmalenberger. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Nick's granddaughter to help with medical bills due to cancer treatments.
