FRUSH, Selma Howard Born March 8, 1930, died peacefully June 1, 2015 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Laura Howard, infant siblings - Carlos and Marcella and brother, Gordon. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 66 years, Willard; daughter, Diana (Stephan) Graham; four grandchildren - Chad (Crystal) Graham, Kassi (Bob) Bond, Shaun (Jessica) Graham and Kyle Graham; three great-grandchildren - Marissa, Caden (Chad's), Rachel (Kassi's). She was greatly loved by many including Jane (Joe) Gardina and Sue (Gene) Carl. Selma graduated from Wilmington College and received her Masters Degree from Miami University. She taught school in Highland County for 7 years before moving to West Carrollton, Ohio in 1956. Selma retired as an educator from the West Carrollton School District after 30 years. She led a wonderful, adventuresome life and was loved by her students. She won the 1973-74 National Freedom Foundation Award and recognition for a special year-long study of American History with her students in preparation for the US Bicentennial. She served 7 years as a researcher for the Records Information for the American Cancer Society. She served 8 years on West Carrollton City Council which included one year as Deputy Mayor. While on city council, she helped plan the visit of President elect George H Bush and Vice President Dan Quayle and their wives. She served as Bicentennial chairperson for the city of West Carrollton, which included planning all the activities for the Bicentennial year, (1976). She was the editor of Hometown Heritage, the first history book of West Carrollton, and a writer for the history section in Montgomery County Ohio history book, (1989). She was Vice President and President of the West Carrollton Lions Club, and the West Carrollton Lioness Club, past President of the Research Club and past President of Jac-Lan Questers Antique Club. Selma was an antique appraiser. She also was founder of the West Carrollton Historical Society, charter member, and was President for four years. She served for 30 years as a volunteer for the city of West Carrollton. After retiring, Willard and Selma obtained a license to sell real estate. They retired after 30 years of real estate sales. The Frushes served as Grand Marshals of The Paper Festival. The Frushes were the recipients of a brick in the West Carrollton Plaza Hall of Fame for their contributions to the betterment of the city. They were honored by the West Carrollton City Council designating a portion of Main Street, between Cedar Street and Pease Avenue as "Frush Way." Visitation on Fri., June 5, 2015 from 4 - 8 pm, Swart & Wolfe Funeral Home, West Carrollton and Rite II Celebration on Sat., June 6, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Francis Episcopal Church, Springboro, Ohio.
