GROSSMAN, Margery Allen 91, a longtime resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, and formerly of Dayton, died 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Otterbein Saint Marys. She was born November 12, 1922, in Bourneville, Ohio, the daughter of Abraham and Ina (Helsel) Allen, and resided near Londonderry, Ohio, in Ross County throughout her childhood. She married Kurt O. Grossman on December 16, 1977 and he survives at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community. She is also survived two sisters, Annabelle Gullette of Chillicothe and Juanita Tyree of Malvern, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her good friends Jim and Mary Jane Hansel of Franklin, Ohio and Bill and Linda Metzger of Saint Marys. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Ina M. Smith; Leona Bethel and Rosa Sullivan; by three brothers: Avery Allen; Floyd Allen and David Allen. Margery was a graduate of Wilmington College, and was an elementary teacher for 37 years, retiring from the West Carrollton City Schools. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in West Carrollton for 45, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Saint Marys. Margery loved gardening, poetry, bowling, traveling, history and people Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 10, 2014, in the Meyer Community Chapel on the campus of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, Saint Marys, the Reverend Vince Lavieri, officiant. Private family burial rites will be held at Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry, Ohio. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Friday at Otterbein, where memorial gifts may be given to either Memorial First United Methodist Church in West Carrollton, or Grace United Methodist Church in Saint Marys.
