RICE, Mabel Earl Patrick Columbia, SC - Funeral services for Mabel Earl Patrick Rice, 
92, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Caughman-Harman Funeral 
Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel with entombment in Bush River Memorial Gardens 
Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 
009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Dutch Fork Christian Church 
Memorial Fund, 220 North Royal Tower Drive, Irmo, SC 29063. Mrs. Rice was born in 
Salyersville, KY on July 2, 1916 and passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. She 
was the daughter of the late Dona C. Patrick and Georgia Anna Jackson Patrick. Mrs. 
Rice was a retired 2nd grade school teacher from West Carrollton, OH. She was active 
in the Coldstream Garden Club, Irmo Vintage Red Hat Club, St. Andrews Women to 
Women Bible Study, Christian Women's Connection and the Republican Party. Mrs. 
Rice is survived by her son, James R. Rice, MD (Ivy) of Irmo, SC; grandchildren, James 
R. Rice, Jr. (Wendy), Andrew Rice (Anne), Lydia Rice Carpenter, Ruth Rice Shealy 
(Kevin); 5 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters; brother, Henry Clay Patrick 
(Louise) of Salyersville, KY and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was 
predeceased by her beloved husband, Roy Rice, great-grandson, Dillon Rice;
