SONNANSTINE, Amy age 95, passed away Friday, May 9. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Sonnanstine, having been married for 68 years. She is survived by her daughter Judy Coleman (Blaine) of Broadview Heights, Ohio, son Alan Sonnanstine (Kathy) of Canton, Michigan, grandchildren Erik, Todd, Amy, and Adam, great- grandchildren Erin, Anika, Leah, and Kaia. Amy was born on a farm in Bertha, Minnesota, the youngest of 12 children. She was raised in Detroit, Michigan by one of her sisters, and she graduated from Wayne State University. She moved to West Carrollton, Ohio in 1952, where she resided for 55 years, at which time she moved to the Sycamore Glen apartments in Miamisburg and more recently to a nursing home in the Cleveland area. Amy taught first grade for 30 years, most of that time in the West Carrollton Schools. Amy was active in her church, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Carrollton. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their travel trailer and visited many parts of the country. Amy enjoyed baking and entertaining friends; her pecan pies and chocolate chip cookies are remembered by many. She truly enjoyed her friends and family and will be missed by all. Visitation will be on Monday, May 12 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 410 East Pease Avenue, West Carrollton, from 1pm-3pm with the service following at 3pm. Pastor Chuck Beckett officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, West Carrollton. The family request memorial donations be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 in honor of the care they gave their Mother.
