STREISEL, Carolyn (Euering) age 74, died February 16. Born in Springfield, OH, 
she always aspired to be a teacher. A Golden Flyer, she graduated with honors 
from the University of Dayton in 1962 and taught for two years before she and her 
husband, Bill, started their family. Carolyn earned her Masters degree (UD, 1986). 
After her children were old enough, she resumed teaching fourth grade until her 
retirement in 1999. Working full time didn't stop her from mall-walking every morning, 
taking aerobics classes, crafting, gardening, being involved with theater, and 
singing in the church choir. She hand cross-stitched many items, including special 
Christmas stockings for each of her grandchildren. After retirement, with Bill, her 
husband of 51 years, behind the wheel and always by her side, Carolyn traveled 
extensively. From day trips to Brown County and Shipshewana, to distant lands in 
Hawaii, Quebec, the Caribbean and Ireland, Carolyn savored every trip. She valued 
hard work and education and she cherished family holidays, especially Thanksgiving 
and Christmas; she instilled in her children the family traditions of each holiday. She 
read voraciously, and after retirement she volunteered at Dayton Children's Hospital 
and sang in the Miami Valley Chorale and St. Henry Catholic Church choir. She 
exemplified perseverance, even through her illness. Her husband stayed faithfully 
by her side-a true manifestation of the phrase "in sickness and in health." Preceding 
her in death were her mother, Catherine Lubbers Euering, and father, Robert Euering. 
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Bill; her children, Patti (Gary) Rish, 
Terri (Mark) O'Brien, Kristen (Patrick Yerian) Eason, Jim (Stacia) Streisel; grandchildren 
Megan, Leanna, Sean, Hayley, Jared, and Zach; brother, Thomas Euering, and many 
devoted friends and extended family members. Visitation will be at TOBIAS FUNERAL 
HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd. Dayton, OH, from 6-8 p.m. 
Thursday, February 20, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am Friday, February 21, 
2014 at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6666 Springboro Pike, Miamisburg, OH. at
