WERTH, Marion Dove age 82 of New Bern, NC, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Carolina East Medical Center, holding hands with her husband John and her daughter Mary. Marion was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on April 3, 1929 the daughter of the late Dean R. & Mary Rees Dove. She graduated from Hamilton High School, and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. During her senior year at Miami, she established a twelve-grade art department for the schools in West Alexandria, Ohio and after graduation, headed the art departments for the schools of West Carrollton, Ohio. She later became a partner in a retail needlework business and then turned her favorite hobby into a wholesale needlework design business, "Designs by Marion Dove Worth," which she operated for 24 years. She created more than 100 cross stitch designs including her favorites: a series of Dayton, Ohio landmarks, "High Flight," and "Script Ohio" performed by the Ohio State University Marching Band. Preceded in death by her son Stephen. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, John, her daughter Mary M. Borckardt and husband Mark of Allen, TX, her daughter-in-law Joni Werth of Dawsonville, GA, grandchildren Mathew, Melissa, and Michelle Borckardt, Nicole Adkins and Jennifer Campbell and four great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago, the Frederick Law Olmsted Society, American Field Service, Riverside Garden Club, the Riverside Presbyterian Church, all in Riverside, Illinois and the Cape Lookout Power & Sail Squadron in New, NC. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, 207 E. Central Ave., West Carrollton, OH 45449. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Marion's memory.
